Management

Poor leadership….

I find myself in a predicament daily where I dont quite understand managements perspectives. Im fully aware of the federal employees game. Do your timeget fatget oldretire with a pension and move on with your life, allowing for the next batch of robots to come in and take your place. Its sickening. Its disgusting. If this is even a small glimmer of a much larger picture that is going on within our government agenciesIm speechless that we managed to survive any kind of threat

Whos fault is it that we are in these predicaments? When SMEs are assigned tasks but are not given the tools to complete the assignments successfullywhat good does that do? When recommendations and proof is given that XYZ is not a valid option to takeyet it is taken with total disregard to the black&white factswho should the finger be pointed to? The answer is simplemanagement.

For the rant that is fixing to unfold on this digital paperI apologize to those that maybe management if you fall into these categories. To be honestI dontI hope you read and learn from what youre doing to your staff.

· If your staff is required to obtain certifications to perform their dutiesat a bare minimumensure that you have the tool sets readily available at the job site for them to use. DO NOT waste their timeor yours. Ideallynot only will you have the tools, but you will also have an environment in which the staff can hone their skills and practice with them

· If you want your staff to respect youobtain the same level of certifications that are required of those working for you. It will at the very leastallow you [the manager] to understand the difficulty level required to obtain the certifications and what all is entailed in maintaining them

· Give appropriate credit to those members of your staff that actually saved your ass by completing a ridiculous task in an unrealistic time frame.

· Have confidence in your staff to do the job correctly and accurately. Allow us (the staff) to be creative in our solution sets. The more conducive the work environment is for motivationthe better the work results will be.

· Do not attempt to embarrass staff members in a public setting. Not only does it make you (manager) look like a donkeybut this animosity will fester..

· Biggest and most important of all….respect is earned…not given. Treat me with the respect that you want to be treated with…or I promise…I’ll be sure to hold your leg when the bus starts backing up….
