Don't get me wrong...I like where I live and I like how the US works...for the most part, but yesterday on the news had me question some things. Apparently there was a pretty horrific earthquake over in China that leveled quite a few city blocks, including some schools. If I remember correctly I think the death toll was somewhere around 80,000 with 50,000 or so being injured. It was showing how kids in the schools were trying to cope with what had happened, trying to get their lives back in order. Families struggling for food, class rooms over crowded with kids sitting on floors to learn, all in an effort to recover from the recent tragedy. What was a shock to me is was followed next...
The government (Communist mind you) made a public announcement that anyone who was effected by the quake and in need of medical attention would receive absolute free health care. That included anything from basic medical needs to amputations, to surgeries, to you name it...free of charge. Can you even imagine something like that ever taking place in this country!?!? I doubt it...no matter how severe the tragedy I don't believe there will ever be a moment in time where hospitals or the health care system will take care of their people free of charge. I just thought something like that is amazing...maybe not. Just thought I would add my .02.
